NRM Expansion Program – Queensland’s $117.84 investment in on-ground land, soil, biodiversity and water outcomes _QWALC Online Forum

Friday June 19, 2026, 12.00pm

NRM Regions Queensland CEO Chris Norman

Queensland’s NRM sector campaigned for 2 years prior to the 2024 Queensland election to secure a $117.84 investment into land and soil; water; and biodiversity outcomes. QWaLC was one of 6 peak bodies who provided testimony to assist the campaign, which resulted in an election commitment by both the LNP and Labor governments.

The new NRM Expansion Program is a result of that commitment and sees Queensland’s regional NRM organisations deliver more than 30* projects across the state. Each of these projects has been identified as a priority through consultation that takes place during regional NRM planning.

In this presentation, NRM Regions Queensland CEO Chris Norman will detail how the sector secured this commitment, what projects are being funded, how outcomes are being measured and reported, and how landcare groups are being engaged.

Pioneer Catchment and Landcare Coordinator Nancy Pratt will join Chris to explain how her group is being contracted by regional NRM organisation Reef Catchments; what services Pioneer Catchment and Landcare group will deliver; and what outcomes the they are hoping to achieve for the region’s Threatened Ecological Communities.
