Brisbane Valley – Kilcoy Landcare

Landcare festivals will be held in two small communities in the Somerset region that were significantly affected by bushfire.

Brisbane Valley – Kilcoy Landcare has arranged a program of speakers, information, music and food as part of ongoing recovery from the 2019 bushfires. The festivals have been made possible by a Landcare Led Bushfire Recovery Grant.

As well as an opportunity for community networking, the festivals will offer landholders and community members expert presentations and information about bushfire prevention and recovery.  The festivals will raise community awareness and engagement, and promote Landcare to bushfire-affected residents.

Interim Secretary said, ‘Recovery from bushfire can take a long time. It’s not just recovery of the bush, wildlife, farm land and infrastructure, and the habitat of threatened species; it is also economic, social and psychological recovery.’

The first is to be  held at Linville on November 6, 2021. There will be a bush tucker demonstration, live music and refreshments. Community organisations will provide information about services, sustainable land management and conservation. Festival goers can access information from community organisations, financial assistance, health and Rural Aid services at their festival stalls. will be represented.
